Why I Write
I write plays about people trying—and often failing—to say what they truly feel.
Whether the setting is Victorian London, a Grimm fairy tale, or a Chicago apartment, I'm interested in the same questions: Who are we when no one is watching? What stories do we inherit? What happens when love, grief, ambition, or fear become too large to hide?
My work blends lyrical realism with psychological nuance and theatrical storytelling. I believe intimate casts can tell epic stories, that classics deserve to be challenged rather than preserved, and that audiences are at their most engaged when they're trusted to wrestle with difficult questions themselves.
